17 year old HK Student Wins Oxford PHD Place

Britain’s Oxford University has accepted a 17-year-old from Hong Kong on one of its doctorate programmes, making him one of the famed university’s youngest such students, a report said Wednesday.

Horatio Boedihardjo became an Oxford undergraduate at 14 and has now been admitted to the university’s mathematics doctorate programme, the South China Morning Post said.

Oxford PHD students are normally four to five years older when they begin their doctorates, yet despite the feat he faces stiff competition from his potentially even more precocious younger brother.

His sibling, March, last September became Hong Kong’s youngest ever university student at the tender age of just nine, leading the report to dub Horatio Boedihardjo as the “prodigy’s brother.”

“I believe it is just a start for me, to change this good fortune into success in the future,” the elder brother said, according to the report.

He said he would use the opportunity to try and emulate the success of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates, the report said.

March won international attention when he started his mathematics course at Hong Kong Baptist University, but said at the time that he was already bored with his “very easy” classes.

Insomnia

It is always hard when i’m trying to get sleep. I always sleep around 2.00 to 4.00 A.M. Eventhough i’m trying to get sleep earlier, i never asleep. Maybe it is because my habit during college. I used to be wait up for doing assignment and my student activity job. And, now i’m already graduate from my university and have no activity. But, i still can’t sleep at the normal time…huhuhu..it’s really really a bad habit and it isn’t good for health too. I’ve already try many ways to get sleep such as wake up earlier so when the night come, i can get sleep earlier too..but, this way isn’t work for me. I also trying to do something so i can fell asleep such as reading comics, browsing, chatting, listen to music. Even i try to close my eyes and lying on my bed, hoping it will work…But, in the end i’ve always fell asleep around 2.00 to 4.00 A.M. Am i get insomnia or it’s just because my habit for wait up ? I hope this bad habit will dishabituate as soon as possible.
